3 year old filly Freaky Freakles claimed her first win of the year with stablemate The Guru tieing up second at the Sapphire Coast.
Sitting wide early, Jess Taylor was able to hold pace with the leading pack. Doing it the hard way from out wide, the team picked up the pace with 500 to run. With the leader’s stalling, Freaky Freckles headed to the outside finding clear room to push clear.
Striking the front with 100 to go, Jess held the lead gliding through to win by 1.1L. Kayla on board The Guru was able to etch out a similar path around the leading pack showing good pace in the last 200m.
It was Bateup racing 1 and 2 at the Sapphire Coast, the team doing it in style.
We had another fantastic day at Sapphire Coast for Merimbula Cup Day landing a stable quinella in the Benchmark 58 over 1400m. Freaky Freckles showed a good turn of foot to cruise to victory with the lightly raced and promising The Guru making up good ground from last to finish 2nd. Both are very nice 3yo’s that have more wins in store!!!Michael Oscar also put in a super effort to come from well back to finish 4th in the final race of the day. Congratulations to all connections and to our great team of staff and supporters
