April Stable News

We didn’t have many runners in April. However River Charge has been flying the flag for the stable, breaking through to win his Maiden impressively at the Moruya Showcase meeting, before stepping up in grade to finish a game 2nd in the Wagga Guineas Prelude.“Timmy” then took his place in the time-honoured Wagga Guineas and once again was very brave to finish 3rd behind the Group placed Foxborough.

River Charge is another shining example of our ability to select inexpensive yearlings and giving horses time to mature. He was purchased at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for only $13,000.

Freaky Freckles was also very good in the Wagga Guineas prelude finishing 3rd and heads to the Sapphire Coast Cup on Sunday.

My favourite sale, the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale has been moved from its usual May date and now will be held on the 26th July. However, we have already purchased a very nice Pluck colt that was headed to this sale.

Our yearlings are going through the breaking in stage, with our Super One / Bulladini filly getting rave reports from the breaker. The Exosphere and Nicconi Fillies as well as the Pluck colt will head to the breakers this month.

We have a number of our 2yo’s close to getting to the races as well our 3yo’s about to head back to the races following their initial racing preparation. All looks well for a busy winter.

‘Steve’ 2018 Colt by Pluck – Faziyah

When we purchased Alan’s yearling half-brother recently, his stable name required no discussion. From the minute we agreed to buy him, it was always going to be Steve.

A good boned colt who is a half brother to our own Alan. He is bred on the same cross as Pluck’s Group 3 winning stayer, Mongolian Wolf who is also out of a Flying Spur mare.

The colt is BOBS eligible and ready to head to the breakers. He will continue to develop with time and offers value and an affordable entry to ownership.
