We are off to a winning start for the new racing season courtesy of the well-bred Autumn Flyer.
He’s a quality looking gelding that has always shown ability. However, things went pear shaped for “Humphrey” at his first race start. He was slow away and then over raced before running into dead ends up the straight. It was not an easy watch as he went to the line under a hold.
Second up at Wyong though, things were different. From barrier 1, Humphrey positioned up in a lovely trailing spot behind the leaders, came out across the leaders’ heels on straightening and lengthened nicely to win by a length for Adam Hyeronimus.
It was very satisfying to see Autumn Flyer win for his owner, Mr Pollicina of Ravenswood Bloodstock who also bred this gelding. Autumn Flyer has a promising future ahead and we look forward to being part of his journey.
Aegipan is a new addition to the stable and the 7-year-old gelding has settled in well to life at Kembla. He’s a tough and honest competitor. First up for the stable “Pan” was very brave finishing 2nd over 1000m at Kembla. He looked the winner only to get bloused on the line by one finishing fast down the outside. Pan then added a 3rdplacing at Wyong when very game and again not beaten far.
Coral Cove is also a promising gelding and finished his first preparation with 2ndand 2 x 3rd placings at Kembla Grange and Hawkesbury. With a bit of furnishing still to do “Louie” will return stronger next preparation and shouldn’t take long to find the winners stall on the back of very good efforts this preparation.
Hussy La Vista has started to put it altogether this preparation. She was a dominant winner in a Super Maiden at Sapphire Coast last month then struck a sloshy track at Moruya. But she bounced back with a very gallant effort when up in grade at Wyong on the 30th August where she finished strongly to fill 3rd place.
Final Spirit produced the best effort of his career on an unsuitably heavy track in a Wagga Super Maiden where he finished 4th Dan will continue to improve with racing and when he gets onto a firmer surface.
Around the Stables
We have a busy month ahead as we move into spring commencing with 11 horses heading to the trials and jump outs on the 3rd September headlined by Master Riley, who has really matured this preparation and is coming to hand very well. Our pocket rocket, Lady Yarrow as well as Night’s Inferno, Brundee Tom, Liamena Avenue, Lindos, Nikita Fire Stone, North Star Miss, Fancy Deal, El Poppi and Zouallo will also being going through their paces as they head towards the races.
A huge thank you to Sonya, Michelle, Jason (and is his workers), Charlie, Kelly, Denise, Shaun, Laura and Max who had a working bee at the stables on the 30thAugust. They did a fantastic job of cleaning up and maintenance and it is very much appreciated. In between cleaning they had time to cheer home Autumn Flyer, Aegipan and Hussy La Vista!. We really do have the most sensational owners and staff.

Cracka’s First Foal.
Our Moruya Cup winner, Crackalacka delivered a healthy colt on the 20th August by Dracarys (making him a ¾ brother to Direct Fire).
Racing Reports
Autumn Flyer made his race debut at Kembla on the 15th August and things did not go to plan. Humphrey was slow to begin then wanted to get his head up and over race. Just for good measure, he went back to the inside and ran up dead ends in the straight.
However, on 30th August he made amends in great style in an 1100m Provincial Maiden at Wyong. From barrier 1, Humphrey jumped well and landed in a lovely position behind the leaders. He travelled much more kindly and was able to come out across heels in the straight and let down nicely to win by a length. He will continue to improve with racing and the tight Wyong circuit is probably not the most suitable track for him.
Aegipan is a recent addition to the stable who arrived in great order and has settled into Kembla well. At his first start for the stable at Kembla on the 15th August, Pan was given a lovely run in transit from the inside barrier. He set out after the leader and looked the winner only to be run down by one finishing fast down the outside. It was a gutsy effort to finish 2nd. He then lined up at Wyong on the 30th August and whilst getting a check early, moved into the race well. Despite a bit of a bumping duel, he kept finding the line for a game 3rd placing.
Coral Cove “Louie” has raced very consistently in his first racing preparation and added a further two placings during the month. At Kembla on the 8th August, Louie jumped much better settling closer in transit and tried very hard to finish 3rd beaten only half a length. At Hawkesbury on the 20th August, Louie again jumped better and was also doing his best work late to finish 2nd. He is now enjoying a spell and will return much stronger.
Hussy La Vista didn’t handle the wet conditions at Moruya on the 16th August. With rain throughout the day Hussy ended up racing on a track that had chopped out and was quite shifty. Although she tried hard, she couldn’t get traction in the conditions. Hussy then stepped up to Provincial grade in a strong Class 1 over 1600m at Wyong. She settled beautifully in transit before working her way into the clear in the straight and hitting the line strongly to finish 3rd. The penny has started to drop with Hussy and she can be competitive again next start.
Mr Bazza made a pleasing debut for the stable at Moruya on the 16th August over 1000m when finishing 3rd. Bazz then headed to Wagga where he travelled up well outside the leader but couldn’t quite let down in the very heavy conditions.
Mr Reiby didn’t have any luck in transit at Hawkesbury on the 20th August when he was caught wide throughout. He then dropped back to 1300m at Moruya on the 27thAugust and drew barrier 1. However he got shuffled back in the field early and was held up around the home turn. Although he made up good ground in the straight, he was giving away too much start. Reiby is likely to head to Moruya on the 15thSeptember over 1425m.
Final Spirit dropped back to 1200m at Wagga in a Super Maiden on the 27thAugust. The very heavy track was not entirely to Dan’s liking but he showed good gate speed from an inside barrier, settled in a handy position and battled away well to finish 4th. Dan is starting to work it out. He will improve with racing and as he steps up slightly in distance.
Mr Fabulous was a good effort first up at Kembla Grange over 1600m. He finished off well after having to check off heels and change course in the straight and should have finished closer. Mr Fab then lined up in an 1800m Midway at Rosehill on the 29th August. He was never able to get into the race which was run at a solid tempo and just outside the track record. Even so he was doing his best work late and was strong through the line indicating he will appreciate stepping up in distance.
Watch Me Tango was excellent on debut at Sapphire Coast when finishing 2nd but didn’t have much luck early at Kembla on the 15th August. She had probably come to the end of her prep when she raced at Kembla on the 29th August. Tango has now gone for a spell.
Rubilace was a bit plain first up in the very Heavy conditions at Wagga in a Super Maiden and pulled up sore behind. Anna is racing a lot more dour this preparation and has finally learned to settle so she will appreciate stepping up in journey.
Brannum was an honest effort at Nowra on the 10th August when finishing 4th, working home well. He probably should have finished a bit closer. Noodle didn’t handle the shifty wet track at Moruya on the 16th August.
Frosted Amour has been sound in her recent efforts with not a lot of luck from wide barriers. From a better barrier at Kembla on the 29th, she settled on the speed but was slightly outclassed. Frenchie will be better suited getting back to country grade and drawing a barrier.
Elle Tee has improved with each run this preparation as have her manners. She is looking for ground and will step up in distance again next start.
Wildstone Nature made his race debut at Kembla and handled the day out quite well. He will continue to improve with racing.
Tartana trialled in great fashion at Kembla in early August but unfortunately bled. She has been retired and will be bred to Finance Tycoon.
Star of Kyeema has been retired and moved onto the next phase of her career as an equestrian mount.
Trials & Trackwork
Bruckner / Champion Parade “Champ”, and Jacquinot / Clemency “Jack” geldings have completed their first preparation in the stables and headed to the paddock.

Zouallo: is a very handsome gelding by Zousain out of Allotwoqua who has had a preparation with the Ciaron Maher stable. He will head to a jump out on the 3rdSeptember.
North Pacific x Heaven on Earth filly is a great type that has just arrived from Kooringal Stud for her first preparation in the stable.
Pure Sin is a 4yo mare by Flying Artie out of Emily I Am She had one race start on a heavy track for the Brad Widdup stable and has just arrived to commence her next preparation.
