What an exciting and successful month it has been for the Bateup Racing Team!
Whilst the “The Four Pillars” Race was only announced last month we were fortunate enough to secure a slot in the $700,000 race with Divine Breath following her excellent 2nd
placing in the Midway behind the Four Pillars favourite, Different
Strokes. A massive thank you to Scott Henley and Fleur Blanche for
selecting “Angel” who produced an outstanding effort in the Four Pillars
under the guidance of Brock Ryan to finish 3rd!!!
It
was an excellent day out with owners being allowed back at the races
and our owner group had a fantastic day and we were super proud of
Divine Breath!
The Four
Pillars (along with the Midway’s) are great concepts and races for our
stable to target. We look forward to trying to gain a slot in the Four
Pillars again next year!
Earlier in the month Steve Steve Steve made his race debut at Wagga, and what a debut it was! Coming from well back in the field Steve motored home down the outside to make it the perfect race debut!!!
Not to be outdone, Moon Stories who had debuted with an eye catching 3rd over 1200m, stepped straight up to 1600m at Sapphire Coast and produced an outstanding effort to also come from well back and mow down the leaders to break his Maiden in style

Both of these 3yo’s have been given plenty of time to develop and are now rewarding their owners patience. I am sure there will be many more wins in store for both “Steve” and “Clyde” (who each have quite big fan clubs).
As usual we had a great day at Sapphire Coast at their first meeting for the new season. Taking down 6 runners we came home with a winner, 2 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd placings including a quinella with Stryke Em Onesie producing her best effort to date when finishing 2nd to Moon Stories. Foxtrot Bravo has returned in great order and he finished 2nd with Shaka Rock 3rd in the Class 2 over 1600m. Demanding Mo also produced a sound effort second up for the stable to finish 3rd.
We were also presented with our rugs and trophies for making a clean sweep in the Premierships at Sapphire Coast for the 2020/21 racing season. We claimed the Trainer’s Premiership for the 3rd time. Halliday Road deservedly won Horse of the Year (having been runner up previously) and our apprentice Ellen Hennessy won both the apprentice and overall jockey’s premiership!!!!
November also means that Gong Day is fast approaching and at this stage we could have a couple of runners at the stand alone metropolitan meeting at Kembla Grange on the 20th November.
It is so great to see owners and public back at the races as Covid restrictions begin to ease. We are still waiting for Racing NSW guidelines to be updated regarding owners visiting the stables (hopefully there will be more news on this over the coming week).
