2023 Bega Cup Carnival

The 2 day Sapphire Coast Bega Cup carnival was once again well supported by our owners and I am sure everyone had a great time. We had a huge turnout of owners and supporters in our sponsored marquee at the races on both the Saturday and Sunday, the Calcutta on Saturday night and our stable dinner at Lake View Hotel on the Sunday night.

Whilst we didn’t get a winner our team performed very well. Divine Breath was fantastic in the Bega Cup. Given a great ride by Jess Taylor, Angel peeled off heels in the straight and looked the winner but just found 2 better on the day.

Crackalacka was probably one of the runs of the race, with an eye catching 5th. Finding trouble early and getting shuffled back in the field then having to navigate off heels in the straight, she hit the line as well as anything in the race once clear.

Foxtrot Bravo showed a timely return to form when lining up in the $50,000 Bateup Racing Sapphire Coast Cup. In an exciting finish to the 2200m staying event, the first three across the line fought it out head and head for most of the straight. Fox just missed out and dead heated for 2nd!

Eberlee was another eye catching effort flashing home to finish 4th first up and with a bit more luck in running would have made it very interesting. Skaifee was also a good performance finishing 4th first up with plenty of improvement in fitness to come for him.

Thank you to all who attended and supported the team and especially to Taneesha and Sonya who were kept very busy strapping on the Sunday and had our horses presented magnificently!
