October has been a very quiet month for us at the races. However we will start to get busier this month with the “A-Team” nearing their return to the races.
Monegal, Golly I’m Lucky, The Guru and River Charge all had jump outs recently and will trial on the 11th November before returning to the races later in the month.
Monegal and Golly I’m Lucky are set to resume at “The Gong” meeting at Kembla on the 21st November. I have had a number of enquiries from owners wishing to attend the races on that day. For bookings please call Illawarra Turf Club on 42617211.
We have had more of our 2yo’s enter the stables and I am very excited by the crop we have coming through this year.
We were also on the right side of a family upgrade when Hudoo Magic won a Group 2 race in South Africa this weekend. Hudoo Magic is a half brother to our $2000 purchase, Fleeting Stryke who we have retained as a broodmare and also to our promising stayer, The Guru. For good measure, their younger half brother, Hudoo Voodoo was narrowly beaten at the Gold Coast over 1800m at only his second race start.
It is hard to believe that it is Melbourne Cup time already, although it will be quite bizarre not having a crowd on course. Best of luck with your Melbourne Cup selections. At this stage my First 4 is:
- Prince of Arran
- Anthony Van Dyke
- Finche and
- Very Elegant!
