The winners keep rolling in! We’ve had 11 winners since the start of the year!
March was a busy and successful month on the racing front. We had 4 winners: 7 second placings and 3 x 3rd placings.
Eltrum and Sablonneuse kicked things off with a winning double at Sapphire Coast.
Kitty Okay was dominant winning at Kembla Grange and London Star added another win at Sapphire Coast (both mares recording their second win this preparation).
Kitty Okay has benefitted from being given time to mature and has really hit her straps this preparation. She stepped up to metro grade on the 4th March and ran well above market expectations, finishing second to the smart Just Maz. Kitty then relished the drop back to Provincial racing, trouncing her opposition at Kembla when winning by 3.5 lengths after leading all the way. Finishing 2nd to Kitty at Kembla was Brannum, who is a new addition to the stable and ran very well at his first start for us. He looks to have wins in store.
Our stable had a big day at Kembla on the 21st March. Not only did Kitty Okay and Brannum give us a quinella but the lightly raced Farsain was excellent in finishing 2nd in a Super Maiden over 1200m when she started at very big odds. Lindos also produced the best effort of her short career when finishing 4th in a Maiden over 1400m.
London Star has matured into a tough, consistent mare and showed a good turn of foot to win over 1400m at Sapphire Coast, beating stable mate Lady Yarrow who looked the winner at one stage but faded slightly late to finish 3rd.
Sablonneuse took a big step up in grade from winning a Benchmark 58 at Sapphire Coast when he ran a very gallant second in a Benchmark 64 at Kembla (just beaten on the post). Freddie enjoyed a week in the paddock following this great effort and is heading towards the Wagga Guineas Prelude and then the Wagga Guineas itself.
Brundee Tom relished the step up to 2000m at Albury (and the blinkers on) when finishing 2nd and stable mate Edorado was a touch unlucky not to finish 3rd behind him when denied running over the final stages.
Recent Inglis Digital purchase, Lantau Island lined up in his first start for the stable at Sapphire Coast on the 20th March and produced an excellent effort, coming from last over 1000m to finish 2nd. Lenny is a lovely horse and we will have a lot of fun with him. North Star Miss also produced her best effort to date when finishing 3rd at the same meeting and will continue to improve with time and as she steps up in distance.
Two new yearlings joined our team during the month:
- Spirit of Boom / Thuwaany filly and
- King’s Legacy / Hard To find colt.
Ownership opportunities in both of these yearlings are available at very affordable prices (see details below or contact me on 0418 428219). They will both head to the breakers in the next week.
The HTBA Sale will be held on the 19th April and we will be inspecting a number of yearlings.

Racing Reports
Sablonneuse followed his dominant win at Sapphire Coast with an extremely tough and tenacious effort at Kembla on the 13th March. Stepping up significantly in grade and up to 1600m in distance, Freddie knuckled shortly after jumping but recovered to settle behind the speed. Coming up the inside on the inferior section of the track,he kept fighting strongly to the line and was just nutted in a photo finish.
Freddie continues to improve with each start and also improved with the blinkers on for the first time. He has enjoyed a week in the paddock since that run and will target the Wagga Guineas. He is likely to start in the Wagga Guineas Prelude on the 19th April as a lead into the Guineas itself.
Kitty Okay. Following a very good 2nd to the promising Just Maz at Warwick Farm on the 4th March, Kitty returned to Kembla 17 days later in a 1400m Provincial Class 1. Drawing wide again, Kitty began well, rolled forward and eventually found the lead for Amy McLucas. She settled beautifully in front, gave a good kick off the home turn and never looked like getting beat, winning easily by 3.5 lengths.
London Star stepped up to city grade at Warwick Farm on the 4th March in a race for apprentice riders only. London got too far out of her ground and never had a chance to get into the race. But she quickly bounced back to the winners circle at Sapphire Coast next start. From barrier 1, London jumped well, settled behind the leaders and was always travelling strongly. When the gaps appeared in the straight, she showed great acceleration and quickly let down for a strong win. London is a very consistent performer and can continue to give her owners plenty to cheer about.
Eltrum was very good when winning on debut. With the advantage of the inside gate in a small field, he got all the favours. He bounced into stride quickly, found the fence and it was just like a track gallop.
Returning to Sapphire on the 30th March, Turtle was stepping up in grade and this time things didn’t go his way. He was a touch slow to jump after being a little unsettled in the barriers and was then checked after jumping. He settled further back in the field, wanted to over race and then got lost out in the middle of the track in the run home. Turtle still has a bit of race craft to learn, especially now that he’s up in grade. However, he has his share of ability.
Brannum produced a great effort first up for the stable at Kembla Grange on the 21st March when he finished 2nd behind stablemate Kitty Okay. Noodle is a lovely style of gelding that looks as though he will appreciate stepping out over a bit further.
Farsain stepped up to Provincial grade at Kembla Grange on the 21st March in a 1200m Super Maiden. Despite starting as one of the outsiders in the field, Fairy settled outside the leader and gave a great sight in the straight to finish 2nd. She shows plenty of ability and a Maiden win shouldn’t be too far away.
Lantau Island lined up in his first start for the stable at Sapphire Coast on the 30th March over 1000m. From the inside barrier, Lenny didn’t show much early speed and settled at the rear of the field. However he wound up strongly in the straight and at one stage he looked as though he may win. But he just peaked in condition late. Lenny is a pretty cool dude and will take good benefit out of the run. He will improve again next start and also when he steps up in trip slightly.
Lady Yarrow ran a very honest race when stepping up significantly in grade in a Heat of the Provincial / Midway Championships at Hawkesbury on the 7thMarch. Harriet dropped back to a Benchmark 66 over 1400m at Sapphire Coast on the 30th March and after a lovely run in transit, she let down strongly in the straight. She looked the winner until stable mate, London Star burst through on the inside. It was still a very honest effort by our little pocket rocket to finish 3rd.
North Star Miss Following a nice effort first up in a Super Maiden at Sapphire Coast, Priscilla never got into the race at Kembla Grange on the 13th March when settling at the rear of the field. She then produced the best run of her short career at Sapphire Coast on the 30th March. Settling at the rear of the field, she worked home strongly to finish 3rd despite being tightened for room in the straight. Priscilla will appreciate stepping up in distance and is going to be better again next preparation.
Sir Sublime continues to race honestly. Being a month between runs, Stubby lined up at Cowra over 1700m. From a wide barrier Stubby had to do a lot of work early. The pressure also went on a long way from home but he kept battling away to finish 4th. At Albury on the 19th March Stubby again drew wide, worked forward and fought on gamely in the straight, just getting run over late to finish 5th.
Rubilace put in a very good effort at Kembla Grange on the 13th March when settling nicely in the run and working home well to finish 4th beaten just over a length. Anna then put in an even performance at Kembla on the 21st March finishing 5th and is now having a short freshen up.
Brundee Tom stepped up to 2000m with the blinkers on for the first time at Albury on the 19th March. From an inside barrier, Tommy settled behind the leaders and gave a great sight to finish 2nd. Another win is not far away.
Lindos ran a much improved race at Kembla Grange on the 21st March when finishing 4th. Linky took up the lead and battled on well in the straight although it was again a wet track which is not her preferred surface. We will be looking for a dry track next start.
Tartana was honest in a Midway over 1600m at Randwick but then raced a bit flat in another Midway at Rosehill on the 21st March. Dolly has now gone to the paddock for a well-deserved break.
Mr Fabulous worked home well at Warwick Farm on the 4th March to finish 5th over 2000m. He then lined up in the Kembla Grange Stayers Cup on the 13th March over 2400m and put in an honest effort in a race run at a very solid tempo. Next start for Mr Fab was in the Listed Albury Cup over 2000m. Suffering interference early in the race, he settled at the rear of the field and worked home late. Mr Fab has had a big preparation and is now enjoying a break in the paddock.
Edorado ran a much better race at Albury on the 19th March over 2000m where he stepped up in grade to a Class 1 and Maiden Plate. From the inside barrier, Eddie settled behind stable mate Brundee Tom. Tracking into the race well, he looked as though he was going to run 3rd but ran out of clear galloping room over the final strides when Brundee Tom shifted in slightly. Eddie is slowly learning his race craft and when the penny drops will be winning races over these staying trips.
Landmark Lady hasn’t had much luck in her past couple of starts over 1400m however closed off well last start at Albury off a very steady tempo.
Yes Arnie has improved with each start as he builds fitness and was a much better effort at Kembla on the 13th March and again at Sapphire on the 30thMarch. He is now ready to step up in distance.

Bikini Babe trialled well at Kembla in March and also in a jump out. She is likely to make her race debut on 13th April.

Newcomers
The Munster “Pebbles” is a good type of gelding by Brutal that joined the stables for his first preparation during March. Pebbles is learning his trade and has just commenced some pace work.
“Pumpkin” a 2yo filly by Street Boss / Mali Rose and “Venus” a 2yo filly by Captivant / Planet’s Princess have joined the stable for their first preparation in a stable following some pre training stints. Both a nice strong fillies and have settled in well.
“Jed” a 2yo gelding by Sandbar / Jevilla arrived during the month and is another nice strong gelding.
We have also purchased a couple of yearlings during the month which will be heading to the breakers shortly.
- Yearling Filly by Spirit of Boom / Thuwaany is a nice sized filly with plenty of scope. This filly will head to the breakers in April and presents with a great attitude. Spirit of Boom is a prolific winner producer and Thuwaany was a multiple winner over 1000 – 1050m so this filly should possess plenty of speed
- Yearling Colt by King’s Legacy / Hard to Find. A neat style of colt, he will head to the breakers in the next week. He is by King’s Legacy who is just starting to get a string of winners. He is a half-brother to multiple winners including Bitcoin Baby (winner of 5 races), Know Where To Look (winner of 4 races) and Look Closer. This is also the family of our very own Monegal! This colt is also BOBS eligible.
Ownership Opportunities are available in both of these yearlings. See Ownership Opportunities below or contact Theresa for more information
Retirees
Victory at Omaha has been retired and headed to his new home where he will be trained in dressage and eventing. Bro has been part of our team for such a long time and did a great job during his career where he started 54 times for 6 wins, 5 seconds and 5 third placings and $174,170 in prizemoney. We enjoyed a lot of great times with Bro and it was a pleasure to see him develop over his career. He was quite a handful as a young horse and despite having quite a quirky personality he was a much loved member of our team. We look forward to following Bro’s career off the track and may see him competing at Equimillions later in the year.
