Highlights
October was a busy month for us, and overall, the team performed very well. However, a run of numerous placings in very close finishes (albeit many at good prices) was becoming a little frustrating.
Finally, we landed back in the winner’s stall courtesy of our ultra-tough and consistent mare, Pretty Please.
“Peggy” broke through for her well overdue Maiden win at Sapphire Coast on the 20th October. She had finished 2nd on the preceding Saturday at Kembla when beaten in a deceptive photo finish. And before that, she ran a great 3rd, also at Kembla. Peggy has now had 12 starts for a win and 6 minor placings.
Miss Bariloche stormed home again to finish 2nd at Moruya on the 25th October. That followed her good win at the same track, the start prior
Sebastian’s Flyer has been consistent all preparation and following 4th placings at his first three starts this preparation, worked home well to finish 2nd at Sapphire Coast on the 30th October.
Master Riley delivered a superb performance at Warwick Farm on the 15th October when he drove up the inside to be beaten a mere 0.12 of a length, finishing 3rd at 60/1
The following week, Mr Fab (starting at $51) also produced a great effort to finish 3rd over 2110m at Warwick Farm, beaten just over half a length.
Two weeks earlier, he had finished 4th at Kensington over 1800m.
Direct Fire finished 3rd at Kembla on the 25th October. He appreciated the drop back in grade and put in a solid effort to be beaten by only a length.
Meanwhile, the tough little mare Lady Yarrow ran out of her skin when beaten only 2.53 lengths at Warwick Farm on the 15th October. She was flattened in the straight but still picked herself up to finish 3rd at Hawkesbury on the 20th October.
Liamena Avenue had trialled well heading into his first up assignment this preparation and ran a much better race when finishing 3rd at Sapphire Coast on the 30th October.
November looks like being another busy month with plenty of horses at the races and several unraced ones due to jump out and trial.

Racing Reports
Pretty Please has always been a very honest little mare and has returned in great order this preparation.
Having sustained a puncture wound to her hind fetlock when she was due to resume work this preparation, Peggy ended up having an extended spell. In the earlier stages, we were unsure if she would even make it back to the races. But she recovered in fine order and has not put a foot wrong this time in.
Second up at Kembla on the 4th October, Peggy finished strongly to finish 3rdbeaten a length. She lined up at Kembla again over 1600m and looked as though she had won to the naked eye. But in a very deceptive photo, she was edged out by the barest of margins.
Peggy then backed up at Sapphire Coast 5 days later and started the favourite, never looked in doubt. She settled at the rear, worked her way through the field, found clear galloping room in the home straight and let down nicely to break through for a well-deserved win. Peggy can now build on her consistent record and will appreciate stepping up in distance.
Miss Bariloche returned to Moruya on the 3rd October following her excellent win there the start prior. She was stepping up to Benchmark 66 grade but again worked home strongly to finish 2nd, beaten a length by the smart Wal’s Angel. Miss B stepped up to provincial grade at Kembla on the 25th October and was far from disgraced when beaten only 1.6 lengths after suffering plenty of interference in the home straight.
Lady Yarrow stepped up to metro grade and took on some very nicely bred horses in a 1400m Maiden at Warwick Farm. Harriet tried very hard and at one stage looked as though she was going to run into 3rd placing at $71. However, she finished a very creditable 5th, beaten 2.33 lengths. Harriet then lined up at Hawkesbury and was lucky to stay on her feet after being flattened in the home straight, but still picked herself up to finish 3rd. Whilst small in stature, Harriet has a heart as big as herself and is well and truly overdue to break through for a win.
Mr Fabulous stepped up to 1800m at Kensington on the 8th October, putting in a solid effort to finish 4th, beaten just over 3 lengths. He then lined up in the Taree Cup over 2000m in open grade and raced a little one-paced. But on the quick back up 5 days later, Mr Fab lined up at Warwick Farm over 2110m and put in a very good effort to finish 3rd beaten just over half a length. Mr Fab will now step up to 2400m at Rosehill on the 8th November.
Master Riley was an excellent effort at Kembla on the 4th October over 1400m, finishing 4th beaten 1.2 lengths. From a wide barrier, Riley worked across to sit outside the leader and fought on tenaciously in the straight with 60.5kg. He then lined up at Warwick Farm. Finally drawing a decent barrier, Riley settled 5th and 6th in the running and drove up the inside in the home straight for Amy McLucas to just be nutted in a 3-way finish. He was beaten a mere 0.12 of a length (and an eyelash for second) to finish 3rd.
Direct Fire was a good effort in a strong Midway at Rosehill on the 11th October. Having to work to sit outside the leader and finding the track a little firm, Drake battled away well. He then dropped back to provincial grade and Kembla Grange on the 25th October. Carrying 60kg after the claim for Zac Wadick, Drake again sat outside the leader and fought on well to finish 3rdbeaten a length and just missing in a photo for second. Another big development in Drake’s life is that Sonya and strapper Taneesha have sourced his own personalised towels and travelling boots to match the Direct Fire caps!!!
Liamena Avenue trialled up very well, winning his Kembla trial in good style. He returned to the races at Sapphire Coast on the 30th October. From barrier 1, he landed in a nice position behind the leaders and fought on well to finish 3rd. Leo has always shown ability at home but was disappointing last preparation. Hopefully, with added maturity, he can keep delivering improved results on the track.
Sebastian’s Flyer has been racing very consistently all preparation. Second up at Queanbeyan over 1460m, Jordan worked home soundly for 4th. On a very firm track at Nowra, he was again very honest, finishing 4th, beaten only 1.9 lengths. Jordan then stepped up to 1600m at Sapphire Coast and ran home solidly to beat all bar the favourite, when finishing second. Another win is not far away.
Night’s Inferno had his first start for the stable at Sapphire Coast on the 30th October. Whilst officially finishing 9th, it was a very good effort. Starting from the outside barrier, Night went back to last and was some 2 lengths behind the second last horse. He had to make a run right around the field and straightened up the widest runner, but kept working home solidly to be beaten only 2.85 lengths. I liked the way he finished off and was strong through the line. He will be very competitive next start.
Sir Sublime put in a sound effort at Moruya on the 3rd October when stepping up in grade to finish 4th, beaten 2.8 lengths. Stubby then finished 5th at Nowra in a race run in fast time, beaten 3.6 lengths. However, he raced flat at Sapphire Coast on the 30th October and will now have a freshen up.
Landmark Lady didn’t have much luck at Moruya on the 3rd October. Working into the race full of running, Pisa went to take a gap that closed before she could get in. Consequently, she was checked and lost momentum. Pisa picked herself up and finished off well, but the first 3 had already got away. Even so, she ran home strongly to finish 4th. Stepping up to 2140m at Goulburn on the 16th October, Pisa was left in front by default early in the race. She is much better when able to take a sit and let down. Pisa did pull up slightly sore behind following the run and is now spelling.
Farsain debuted at Sapphire Coast on the 30th of October and will take a lot of benefit out of the run. Fairy has a fantastic attitude. But she pulled up a little shin sore and has now gone for a spell.
Star of Kyeema also made her race debut at Sapphire Coast on the 30th of October. A little timid and raw, Emmy wants to please and finished off nicely. She will take a lot of benefit from the day out. Emmy will continue to improve with racing and experience.

Flying Gabbi trialled well at Canberra on the 24th October and will make her long-awaited race debut in the coming weeks.
Hussy La Vista has performed well in her jump-outs but got a little lost in her trial at Canberra.
