Highlights

The team has been racing very well over the past month, with the highlight being Miss Bariloche’s barnstorming win at Moruya on the 16th September, when she beat Sir Sublime, giving the stable a quinella.

Miss Bariloche has settled in well at Kembla. From 5 starts since joining the stable, she has recorded a win, a second and a third placing. She backed up her dominant win with an excellent 2nd at Moruya on the 3rd October.

Lady Yarrow remains a model of consistency and recorded a 2nd at Moruya on the 16th September before finishing 3rd at Kembla on the 27th September. “Harriet” has now had 6 starts for 4 placings and never finished further back than 5th. She’s very close to breaking through for her Maiden win.

Prized Alwyns is another who has performed very well since joining the stable. From 3 starts, she’s had a win and a second. She worked home very well to finish 2nd over 1800m at Wagga on the 20th September. On the same day, her half-brother, Brundee Tom went within a whisker of winning his maiden, just missing in a photo finish.

Landmark Lady worked home well to finish 4th at Canterbury over 1900m on the 10th September before an unlucky 4th at Moruya on the 3rd October.

Direct Fire had no luck at all first up but was excellent second up at Rosehill, finishing 4th with Amy McLucas back in the saddle.

Sebastian’s Flyer returned with a good effort, working home well fresh over 1200m to finish 4th at Wagga on the 20th September. Pretty Please has returned in good style from a long spell with a solid 5th first up at Moruya before an excellent 3rd at Kembla. Master Riley was also very brave at Kembla on the 4th October, finishing 4th beaten 1.2 lengths.

We are looking forward to the month ahead with a number of horses heading to the trials and jump outs and our team at the races continuing to race well.

Racing Reports

Miss Bariloche appreciated getting onto a firmer track at Moruya on the 16thSeptember. She settled back in the field over 1660m and off a solid tempo, let down strongly down the outside and stormed home for a dominant win under Jess Taylor.

Miss B returned to Moruya next start, stepping up to Benchmark 66 grade and again worked home strongly to finish 2nd beaten a length by the smart Wal’s Angel. She has now had 5 starts since joining the stable for a win, a second and a third placing. Her only two failures were on wet tracks. Miss B also looks as though she will appreciate stepping up in distance.

Brundee Tom went oh so close to breaking through for his Maiden win at Wagga on the 20th September, just missing in a photo finish. In his first preparation, Tommy has done a super job recording a second and 3 x third placings from 6 starts. He was also far from disgraced in a Canterbury Super Maiden where he didn’t get a lot of room but was beaten only 1.83 lengths. Tommy is now enjoying a spell and will return even better.

Lady Yarrow is such a consistent little mare and is so close to breaking her Maiden. At Moruya on the 16th September in a Super Maiden, Harriet chased hard but couldn’t reel in the winner to finish 2nd. She then stepped up to 1400m in a Fillies and Mares Maiden at Kembla and was once again very honest, dead heating for third and beaten only a length.

Prized Alwyns returned to Canberra on the 5th September, stepping up to 2000m following her dominant win.  Ally had to do a lot of work early and battled away well at her first attempt over this distance. She then lined up over 1800m at Wagga on the 20th September. Although she raced without cover for most of the trip, she worked home solidly to finish 2nd. Ally has settled back into Kembla well. From 3 starts for the stable this preparation, she has recorded a win and a second placing.

Sir Sublime has been racing much more consistently in the past few starts. On a Heavy 10 at Goulburn on the 12th September, Stubby fought on fairly finishing 4thbeaten 2.95 lengths. But then on the quick back up and appreciating a firmer surface, Stubby gave a great sight at Moruya where he led and kicked strongly. He was just run down by stable mate, Miss Bariloche over the final strides. Stubby returned to Moruya on the 3rd October where, stepping up in grade, he put in a sound effort to finish 4th, beaten 2.8 lengths.

Direct Fire returned to the races at Rosehill on the 13th September From the time the gates opened nothing went right for him. Although he jumped on terms, he got sandwiched out of the barriers and settled well back in the field which is not his racing style. Drake then ran into dead ends up the straight and went to the line under a hold in what essentially ended up being a barrier trial. He returned to Rosehill over 1300m on the 27th September. With regular rider Amy McLucas back in the saddle, Drake settled outside the leader and battled on strongly to finish 4th beaten 1.5 lengths behind a couple of progressive horses. He will be back at Rosehill on the 11th October over 1400m.

Pretty Please returned to the races at Moruya off a long spell. She lined up in a Class 1 over 1435m. Settling back in the field, Peggy worked home quite nicely to finish 5th. She then stepped up to 1600m in a Provincial Maiden at Kembla on the 4thOctober and produced an excellent effort to finish 3rd, beaten a length. Peggy was a model of consistency last preparation and has returned in the same vein. A win is not far away!

Master Riley was a solid performance at Moruya on the 16th September in a Benchmark 82 where he finished 5th. He then put in an excellent effort at Kembla over 1400m, finishing 4th beaten only 1.2 lengths. From a wide barrier, Riley worked across to sit outside the leader and fought on tenaciously in the straight under 60.5kg.

Landmark Lady was very good at Moruya on the 17th August when finishing 4thover the 1650m. Pisa was another that did not handle the poor track conditions at Wagga on the 28th August and can bounce back on a better track next start.

Sebastian’s Flyer returned to the races at Wagga on the 20th September and produced a very good effort first up over 1200m. From a wide barrier, Jordan settled back in the field and worked home very strongly to finish 4th, beaten 2 lengths. He will now step up to 1460m at Queanbeyan on the 12th October.

Mr Fabulous returned to competition on the 3rd September after some 87 weeks between races. Kicking off over 1400m in a Benchmark 72 at Warwick Farm, Mr Fab settled back and looked under pressure around the home turn. However he kept winding up in the straight and worked home strongly to finish 6th, beaten only 1.82 lengths. Mr Fab returned to Warwick Farm on the 24th September over 1600m and was a sound effort, getting too far back in transit.

North Star Miss made a very pleasing race debut at Kembla on the 13th September where she finished 5th. Priscilla handled her first day out at the races very well and was doing her best work late over the 1200m trip. She will appreciate getting over a bit further next preparation. Priscilla is now enjoying a spell and will return to the stables towards the end of the month.

Pitch ‘N Toss hasn’t had a lot of luck since her eye catching second at Kembla in August. She finished mid field at Canterbury on a very heavy track before a luckless 6th at Moruya on the 3rd October where she copped interference in the straight. Winnie can bounce back to form shortly and will be better suiting drawing out a little so that she can get to the outside and let down.

Night’s Inferno has settled into Kembla very well and will make his debut for the stable in the next couple of weeks.

Victory at Omaha was a very solid effort at Canberra over 1600m finishing 6th on the 5th September. Bro has been in work for a long time and is now enjoying a short spell.

Champ De Fleurs has had a couple of little niggles and will return to the races at Queanbeyan on the 12th October.

Deni Lass was a bit green first up at Moruya on the 16th September over 1200m finishing 7th. Deni then stepped up to 1400m with the blinkers on at Kembla on the 27th September. She got herself quite worked up behind the barriers then wanted to over race and unfortunately bled during the race. Deni will be retired from racing and we are in the process of finding her a good home.
