Last start winners set for Wyong

Theresa Bateup will travel to Wyong on Wednesday with last-start winners Liamena Avenue and Pretty Please

Mollie Fitzgerald has picked up the ride on Liamena Avenue, with the 4YO Headwater gelding set to contest the 1350m Class One Handicap.

A frustrating commodity at times, Liamena Avenue put it all together at Queanbeyan on November 11, winning nicely in the 1200m Maiden Handicap.

With a win under his belt and more race experience, there’s nothing to say Liamena Avenue won’t take that next step at Wyong, where he has drawn gate two and only carries 54.5kg following Fitzgerald’s 1.5kg claim.

The in-form Pretty Please will be shooting for three wins on the trot in the 2100m Benchmark 68 Handicap.

Jess Taylor was in the saddle as the 5YO Bull Point mare broke through for a well-deserved maiden victory over 1600m at the Sapphire Coast on October 30.

Backing up at Queanbeyan on November 11, Taylor and Pretty Please won impressively in the 2000m Benchmark 58 Handicap.

Stepping up in class again at Wyong, it is a tougher race, but Taylor is again in the saddle, and connections have drawn kindly with gate three.

A trip to Wyong leads into a potentially busy few days for Theresa Bateup and her team, who have runners entered to race at Queanbeyan on Friday, Kembla Grange on Saturday, and the Sapphire Coast on Monday.
