The month of July was quite busy with a number of the team getting to the races despite another wet month and numerous abandoned and transferred race meetings.
We finished July with 2 winners, 8 seconds and a third placing. The seconds were getting quite frustrating, especially given a number of close finishes!!!
We also had another successful outing to the Sapphire Coast on the 24th July where we finished the day with 2 winners and 3 seconds. The trainers premiership came down to the final race of the day!
We were 2 winners behind the Joseph and Jones team coming into the final meeting. Proklisi debuted for the stable with an eye catching 2nd placing closing off strongly over the final stages. Then Inspired Dream looked as though she was going to close the gap when she kicked clear in the straight but was nosed out in the final stride to run second! Victory At Omaha got us back in the winner’s circle with a dominant display in the Class 1 1600m, and we ran the quinella in the race with Steve Steve Steve working home strongly to finish 2nd. In the final race on the program Maddison’s Missile who was stepping up to the 1200m, took control of the race from the barriers and cruised home to win by over 2.5 lengths! With the Joseph and Jones stable going winless on the final day we shared the training honours for the season.
Our strike rate at Sapphire Coast is quite outstanding. With 11 winners and 20 placegetters from 56 starters for a winning strike rate of 19.6% and 55.4% of our runners finishing Top 3!
Real Key ran a very good second at Wyong on the on the 19th July and continues to race well. At Queanbeyan on the 11th July (meeting transferred from Moruya) Hope Uno went within a short half head of claiming her Maiden given a gun ride by apprentice Madison Waters to finish second
Rapidity also produced an outstanding effort to be beaten a head when running second for Jess Taylor. Eberlee was another brave 2nd at Goulburn (meeting transferred from Kembla Grange) on the 8th July. The month commenced with Inspired Dream finishing 2nd and Rapidity finishing 3rd at Moruya on the 1st July. Monegal was far from disgraced in finishing 5th in both the Listed Winter Stakes and Listed Winter Challenge. She is likely to head to the Coffs Harbour Cup on the 4th August.
Finally a very Happy Birthday to all of our “kids” who turn a year older on the 1st August!!!
