September Highlights

The team has been racing well but with little luck going our way!!

Crackalacka resumed with a 10th in the Midway but was full of running at the end of the race. The gaps closed everywhere she went and she was unable to be fully tested. With clear running, she would have been in the finish!

On the same day, Tartana was declared a non-runner at Kembla when she was denied a fair start. Dolly missed the start by a conservative 10 lengths and was only a length and three quarters from the winner at the finish. She resumed in great fashion at Moruya prior to this, hitting the line solidly to finish 2nd over the 930m.

Both Cracka and Tartana will line up on the 7th October and with a bit of “good” luck both should run bold races.

Hope Uno has returned in tremendous fashion. First up at Kembla on the 9th, she started as the outsider in the field but from last to run home strongly into 3rd place. She followed that up with another good 4th at Kembla on the 23rd. Hope is a very honest and consistent mare. She did a great job in country grade last preparation and has stepped up to provincial grade this time in.

Shaka Rock has also been racing in great heart. He ran a strong 4th (beaten in a photo for 3rd) at Kembla on the 14th and then represented us in my home town Cup at Cootamundra where he put in an excellent performance to finish 3rd beaten 0.66 length.

Alan is another racing consistently in his grade/ He ran a close up 2nd at Canberra on the 23rd then added a 4th at Wagga on the 30th. Stone Lizzie is getting close to breaking through for her Maiden win with a gallant 2nd at Wagga on the 30th, whilst Mulvader made an eye catching debut at Moruya on the 29th in the $50k Super Maiden over 1010m, coming from last to finish 5th.

This month will see the return of The Guru to the races, along with Mystic Diva, Magic Alwyns and others. We also have a large group of our 3yo’s getting close to making their race debuts.

It was fantastic to see Prized Icon sire his first Group 1 winner when Tropical Squall smashed her opposition in the Flight Stakes on Saturday. With his oldest progeny only 3yo’s it is a great achievement to get a Group 1 winner in his first crop .. the first of many!!! We have a number of Prized Icon progeny in the stables and have been more than pleased with their progress. They are very sensible, sound horses to work with and will come into their own with age and as they get over ground.

I had my final foal of the year born on the 28th September. She is a gorgeous chestnut filly by Prized Icon out of Rose of Scarlet.

Our B grass renovations have commenced. The club are being very cooperative with scheduling jump outs and trials for us We had our first set of jump outs on the back straight of the course proper on the 3rd October.  Once the B grass renovation is completed this will also be used as a second racing surface.
